Adrenal Cancer Symptoms

Adrenal cancer, also known as adrenocortical carcinoma, can present with various symptoms. However, it's important to note that many of these symptoms can also be caused by other conditions. Common symptoms of adrenal cancer may include:

  • Abdominal or back pain: Pain in the abdomen or back, especially on the side where the affected adrenal gland is located, may occur.
  • Unintentional weight loss: Rapid weight loss without trying could be a sign of adrenal cancer, especially if accompanied by other symptoms.
  • Fatigue: Persistent tiredness or weakness that doesn't improve with rest could be a symptom.
  • Abdominal mass or lump: A mass or lump can sometimes be felt in the abdomen due to the tumor growing in the adrenal gland.
  • Changes in hormone levels: Adrenal tumors can lead to overproduction of certain hormones, such as cortisol, aldosterone, or androgens, leading to symptoms such as high blood pressure, diabetes, excessive hair growth, or menstrual irregularities.
  • High blood pressure: Hypertension (high blood pressure) can occur if the tumor produces excess aldosterone.
  • Irregular menstrual periods: In women, adrenal tumors can lead to irregular menstrual periods or cessation of menstruation.
  • Excessive hair growth: Adrenal tumors can lead to excessive hair growth in women (hirsutism) due to increased production of androgens.
  • Changes in libido: Changes in sexual desire or function may occur due to imbalances in hormone levels.

It's important to remember that these symptoms can be caused by various other conditions as well, and having one or more of these symptoms does not necessarily mean you have adrenal cancer.
