Today, the GW Cancer Center launched a new video series, The Elevator Speech, built around a simple idea: if you had just a few minutes to explain your work, what would you say? These short videos give clinicians and researchers space to break down complex studies into clear, engaging takeaways that anyone can follow.
Each Elevator Speech focuses on a single idea, study, or approach, and keeps the emphasis on why it matters. The goal is to make research feel more approachable, while still capturing the depth and purpose behind it. Whether you work in oncology, support someone with cancer, or simply want to understand what is changing in the field, Elevator Speech videos offer a quick way to stay connected to the latest work.
The first video features Vishal Patel, MD, director of cutaneous oncology, who shares the motivation and design behind his clinical trial for skin cancer. The study looks at cemiplimab, an immunotherapy drug, delivered in a different way: injected directly into skin cancer lesions. By focusing treatment at the tumor site, the trial explores whether a more targeted approach can improve outcomes and shape how immunotherapy is used in the future.
Patel walks through the key idea behind the trial in straightforward terms, connecting the science to real-world impact. He sets the tone for the series, showing how much can be communicated in a short, focused format when the message is clear.
Stay tuned for more Elevator Speech videos, featuring voices from across the GW Cancer Center. Each one adds a new perspective, asks a new question, and poses a new way of thinking about cancer research and care — all in the time it takes to ride the elevator.
