Andrew Akman, MD, is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular & Interventional Radiology. He is an assistant professor at The George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He completed the majority of his medical training in Boston at Tufts University and Boston University, before moving to Baltimore to complete a fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a native of Washington, DC. Dr. Akman performs numerous minimally invasive procedures and has specific areas of interest in interventional oncology and complex IVC filter retrieval. Within interventional oncology, Dr. Akman performs thermal ablation of lung, liver, and kidney tumors as well as chemoembolization and radioembolization of liver malignancies. Dr. Akman also specializes in complex IVC filter removal and IVC filter related complications.
