Maria G. Sotomayor, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology. She specializes in diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders in adults, adolescents and children as well as in cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Sotomayor earned her MD degree at Federico Villarreal National University in Lima, Peru. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine where she served as a Chief Resident, academics. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Sotomayor served several years as a clinical researcher in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Miami School of Medicine as well as at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and the Cutaneous Oncology Program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Sotomayor is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Florida West Coast Dermatology Society. Her current research interests are in the areas of skin disorders affecting children as well skin cancer. She is joining the GW Dermatology department after 10 years of practice at Tampa Palms Dermatology.
