Leukemia

Leukemia can be a scary diagnosis because the term is so broad; leukemia refers to cancers of the blood-forming cells, including the bone marrow and lymphatic system.

Leukemia can either be acute, meaning it develops rapidly, or chronic, meaning it develops gradually over time. Some types of leukemia, such as acute lymphocytic leukemia, are more common in children, while others, such as chronic myeloid leukemia, are more common in older adults.

The specialists in the GW Cancer Center’s Malignant Hematology Program are highly trained to diagnose and treat all forms of leukemia.
