Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States according to the American Cancer Society, accounting for about one in five cancer deaths. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than from colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.
Currently, lung cancer screening exams are recommended for high-risk adults. These patients have at least a 20 pack year cigarette smoking history. A pack year is calculated by the number of packs a person smokes per day multiplied by the number of years that person has smoked.
