Anita McSwain, MD is board-certified in General Surgery and an assistant professor with The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She specializes in breast surgery at the Breast Care Center. Dr. McSwain is a graduate of The University of Richmond and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals and earned her Masters of Public Health in International Health at the Rollins School of Public Health.
Dr. McSwain was an active-duty surgeon with the United States Air Force from 2002 to 2007. During this time, she was deployed to Qatar and Iraq as a general and trauma surgeon. She is currently a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. Dr. McSwain is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Her clinical interests include international health and public outreach, particularly with respect to breast health.
