Dr. Hawdon has extensive training in hookworm biology and molecular biology, and has done pioneering research in these areas. He has spent his 24-year academic career studying hookworms, and his laboratory group is the first to study mechanistic aspects of signaling during hookworm infection.

Dr. Hawley received a B.S. in Chemical Physics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1979 and, after graduate studies at the Ontario Cancer Institute under the supervision of Dr. Nobumichi Hozumi, obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto in 1984.
