High School Programs

DC Health and Academic Prep Program (DC HAPP)

Audience: Rising high school juniors and seniors 
Format: Summer program and academic-year internships 
Leadership: Jalina Booker

DC HAPP serves students from public and public charter schools across the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. Participants explore healthcare careers through a four-week summer experience and clinical internships during the academic year. The program also provides mentoring and guidance for college preparation and application success.

GW Upward Bound Program

Audience: Grades 9–12 
Eligibility: First-generation college-bound students

Upward Bound supports students in Wards 5, 6, and 7 in Washington, DC. The program prepares participants for college through:

  • Academic tutoring
  • Saturday Academy
  • SAT preparation
  • Summer Institute
  • Leadership development opportunities

Colaco Scholar Program

Audience: High school students 
Cohort size: 1–2 students per year 
Leadership: Cyril Jacquot, MD, PhD

This philanthropically supported program provides hands-on exposure to laboratory medicine and chemistry. In accordance with donor guidelines, most students are recruited from private high schools in Washington, DC, and Thomas Jefferson High School in Virginia.
