Gallbladder Symptoms

Gallbladder problems can manifest in various ways, often related to the presence of gallstones or inflammation (cholecystitis). Here are some common symptoms associated with gallbladder issues:

  • Pain:
    • Biliary colic: Sudden, intense pain in the upper right abdomen, often radiating to the back or right shoulder. This pain can last from a few minutes to several hours.
    • Chronic pain: A dull ache or discomfort in the upper right abdomen, often following a meal.
  • Digestive Symptoms:
    • Nausea and vomiting.
    • Bloating, especially after eating fatty foods.
    • Indigestion and heartburn.
  • Jaundice:
    • Yellowing of the skin and eyes, indicating a blockage in the bile duct.
    • Changes in stool and urine:
    • Clay-colored stools due to lack of bile.
    • Dark urine, indicating excess bilirubin.
  • Fever and chills:
    • May indicate an infection or inflammation of the gallbladder.
    • Tenderness in the abdomen:
    • Particularly when pressing on the right upper quadrant of the abdomen.
  • Loss of appetite:
