Prashanth Ashok Kumar, MD, Joins the GW Cancer Center as Hematologist-Oncologist Specializing in Thoracic Cancers and Primary CNS Tumors

The GW Cancer Center is proud to announce the addition of Prashanth Ashok Kumar, MD, to its hematologist-oncologist team. Ashok Kumar, who specializes in thoracic cancers and primary CNS tumors, further strengthens the center's commitment to providing top-tier, patient-centered cancer care.


With a robust background in thoracic oncology, Ashok Kumar brings a wealth of expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing cancers affecting the lungs, esophagus, and chest. His clinical interests include lung cancer, mesothelioma, thymoma, and other complex thoracic malignancies. Ashok Kumar’s arrival marks a significant expansion of the GW Cancer Center’s capabilities in treating these complex conditions with the latest medical advancements.

Ashok Kumar earned his medical degree from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Tamil Nadu, India). He completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at SUNY Upstate University Medical Hospital in Syracuse. He has been actively involved in clinical research and focuses on exploring innovative treatment methods, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies, to improve patient outcomes.
