The George Washington University (GW) Cancer Center proudly announces the addition of Walaa Aldhahri, MD, as a hematologist-oncologist. Aldhahri joins the breast oncology team after completing the prestigious Albert L. Tucker and Elizabeth T. Tucker Postdoctoral Fellowship. During this fellowship, she researched tumor microenvironment immune modulation with neoadjuvant endocrine therapy in breast cancer under the mentorship of Pavani Chalasani, MD, MPH, the Division Director for Hematology-Oncology of the GW Cancer Center.

“I am excited to be part of such a dynamic team at the GW Cancer Center, where innovative research and compassionate patient care are at the forefront,” said Aldhahri. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to bring the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

Aldhahri received her medical training at the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, before coming to the George Washington University for residency training in internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in hematology-oncology.

“The importance of education has been passed down through my family to me, and I am always looking to give back to the medical community. I am keenly interested in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents,” said Aldhahri. “I hope to instill an interest in hematology and oncology that will last through their medical careers, whether or not they enter the hematology or oncology fields. Also, I am excited to work with our hematology and oncology fellows as they continue their medical journeys in this exciting and ever-evolving field.”

Aldhahri’s addition to the GW Cancer Center marks a significant step in expanding the center’s ability to offer state-of-the-art treatments and personalized care plans. Her commitment to patient-centered care aligns with the GW Cancer Center’s mission of advancing cancer treatment through research, education, and clinical care.
