Harold A. Frazier, II, MD, FACS

Harold A. Frazier, II, MD, FACS, is Professor of Urology, and Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and DIO at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences (GWU-SMHS). He serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees, and Clinical Director of Urologic Oncology Program at the George Washington University Hospital (GWUH).  He is a founder of the Urologic Robotic surgery program at George Washington.  This program is a regional leader in robotic surgery, having completed more than 5,000 robotic cases since 2004. Dr Frazier has mentored and trained more than 100 surgeons in the use of the daVinci Robot. He works on the GWUH Board Credentialing committee, the Board Quality Committee, and the Medical Executive Council. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USHUS).  Dr. Frazier previously served as the chief of Urology with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, residency program director and assistant chairman of Urology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, and associate professor of Surgery with USUHS. While in the US Navy, he also worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and was the urologic consultant to the White House Medical Office, and the Congressional Medical Office. Dr. Frazier received his medical degree with honors from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire, where he was elected a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Honor Society. He completed his internship and residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and received subspecialty training as a fellow in urologic oncology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Frazier is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, past president of the Society of Government Service Urologists (SGSU), past president of the Washington Urological Society, and current secretary for the SGSU.  His other professional memberships include the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, the American Medical Association, the American Urologic Association (AUA), the Mid Atlantic Section of the AUA, the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Washington Urologic Society, the Society of Government Service Urologists, and the Reserve Officers Association of the United States. Dr. Frazier retired as a captain in the Medical Corps of the United States Naval Reserve after more than 24 years of service to our country. He is highly regarded as a dynamic educator of countless medical personnel in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) for battlefield and casualty management. He continues to teach ATLS to the active duty military personnel. He received numerous military awards including a Meritorious Service Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, and several Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. Dr. Frazier's research has been published in the Journal of Urology, Urology, Cancer, Journal of Surgical Oncology, Canadian Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, American Journal of Radiology, Urologic Radiology, Modern Pathology, Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Journal of Forensic Science, World Journal of Urology, Journal of Ultrasound Medicine, and Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, Radiologic Clinics of North America, and Problems in Urology.  He has served or is currently serving as reviewer for the Journal of Urology, the Journal of Urologic Practice, the Canadian Journal of Urology, Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations, and Journal of Ultrasound Medicine.  Dr. Frazier has been named as an US News & World Report "Top Doctor" in the field of Urology multiple times.  The Washingtonian Magazine has selected Dr. Frazier as a “Top Doctor” in Urology every year since 2008. The Consumer Research Council of America has named Dr. Frazier one of “America's Top Physicians in Urology”, and the Washington Checkbook Magazine has recognized him as a Top Urologist. The Urology residents at the GWU-SMHS have honored Dr. Frazier five times with their annual Departmental Teaching Excellence Award.  He continues to train and educate medical students and residents at the GWU-SMHS.
