Mamoun Younes, MD, FCAP, AGAF is a nationally recognized gastrointestinal and liver pathologist. He is currently Vice Chair in the Department of Pathology, and Director of Surgical Pathology at George Washington University Hospital.
Prior to joining GW, he was tenured professor of pathology and gastroenterology and served as director of the gastrointestinal and liver pathology services at Baylor College of Medicine and at UTHealth McGovern Medical School in Houston, TX.
Dr. Younes is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). His other professional organizations include the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), US and Canadian Academy of Pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and Association of Clinical Scientists.
His clinical and research interests include gastrointestinal pathology, Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease/steatohepatitis (NAFLD/NASH) and malignant and premalignant lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas. He has published over 135 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
